Accelerated Workers' Compensation Program

As a first step in helping to improve the Workers' Compensation system, The Workers' Compensation Training Consortium determined that the Accelerated Workers' Compensation Adjuster Training should be developed by two key industry organizations.  Working in partnership, the Insurance Educational Association (IEA) and participants from the traditional education environment developed the Accelerated Workers' Compensation Program (AWCP), an accelerated training program for entry-level workers' compensation claims examiners.  This program was developed exclusively in response to the Insurance Industry's urgent need for qualified entry level claims examiners.

This program provides detailed knowledge of how to manage a workers' compensation claims file from creation to final closure. Curriculum is presented in a "student centered" learning style, a blend of lecture, class discussion, case study review, and weekly examinations. Classes are offered in two formats: 1) Seven hours per day for 20 days, or 2) Evenings and every other Saturdays for 3 months.  Successful graduates will earn the Accelerated Workers' Compensation Claims certificate (AWCC).

New Evening Class Format in Development

A modified Accelerated Workers' Compensation Claims Certificate Program (classes are held two nights per week with alternating Saturdays) is scheduled to begin in the future.  For additional information, see the fact sheet at WCTC-September-Ad02.pdf, or NEWS & LINKS.

Hit the Ground Running!
Graduates are ready to hit the ground running if hired by a Workers' Compensation provider, agent, broker, third party administrator, or self-insured company. The Insurance Industry stands ready to hire graduates of this highly sought hot-off-the presses training program.  To learn more about this solid career, salaries, and job availability, click here.

Fees and Financing
Course fees may vary (factors include class locations and industry support) between $3,950 and $4,400. Potential reimbursement possibility from industry-sponsored fund (see next paragraph).  For more information about potential funding sources (student loans and scholarships), click here.

Scholarship
IEA and the Workers' Compensation Training Consortium (WCTC) have already raised in excess of $7,500 toward support of this program... and we continue our fundraising efforts!

Some of these funds have been used to defray course development expense, however the remainder is available to registered students. All future contributions will be fully applied to the scholarship fund.

As funds are received, the total available amount will be posted on this page. For every $10,000 in contributions, tuition fees may be reduced as much as $400 per person (assuming a class size of 24). Contributing companies are listed on our Partners/Sponsors page.

Option To Challenge
Want to achieve advanced certification beyond your
AWCC?  Instead of having to attend additional classes, successful graduates of this program can challenge (take exam and score B- or better) CA 14, and CA 15.  If unsuccessful in passing these tests, you may complete CA 14, and CA 15 and receive the highly respected IEA Workers' Compensation Claims Administration (WCCA) certificate.

Successful graduates can also challenge/take CA 13, successfully complete CA 14, receive the IEA WCCA certificate (CA 13 requirement waived) and be only two courses (CA 17 and CA 20) away from IEA's premier designation, Workers' Compensation Claims Professional (WCCP).
